Lookonline celebrates today 23 years online making it not only the first fashion site on the Internet but also the longest running site beginning in December, 1994. Above are pictures of the invitation to the launch party called "CyberTaste" held at Sony Plaza on Madison Avenue December 4, 1994 attended by over 850 people.

Our launch -- which was to benefit the charity "Share Our Strength" -- was the single largest event ever held at Sony Plaza up until that time. Lookonline existed even before the Internet as a BBS service with the first graphical interface back in 1993. Does anyone even remember what a BSS was?

We had a number of well known contributors to the site over the years from the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Grace Mirabella and the senior fashion writer of the New York Times Bernadine Morris to the Supermodel Anna Bayle.

Our founding editor was the late Susan Sommers who also named our site. Marilyn Kirschner has been the editor-in-chief of the site for the last 22 years

Perhaps even more surprising, our site's news & feature linked blog the DFR: Daily Fashion Report is also the first fashion blog on the Internet. Since February 2002, over 2200 posts and linked articles are archived and can be assessed by anyone interested in reading the many interviews, market reports, profiles and editorials covering such an important span of New York fashion from our own original and unique perspective.

For those of you who have supported our site in the past our heartfelt thanks. Lookonline continues to grow and be a free spirited but serious editorial resource read by many of the most respected names in the New York fashion industry.
