Better Bets: Summer Sensations - by Rhonda Erb

Spend a summer evening basking in the cozy atmosphere of the Paramount Bar. The recently opened nightspot, located in New York’s iconic Paramount Hotel, evokes the feeling of a bygone era, with velvet banquettes, crystal chandeliers, and a mirror-paneled bar. Sample one of their signature cocktail creations, the "Bright and the Beautiful", with the recipe below.

Paramount Bar, 235 West 46th Street, New York City

2 oz Tanteo Jalapeno Tequila
1 oz Fresh Watermelon
1/2 oz Agave Nectar
1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into chilled martini coupe glass. Garnish with mint and/or cilantro.

CFDA Monday Movie Night

(Press Release) The CFDA and W Magazine are pleased to announce Monday Movie Night at Bar Basque. Films will be fashion inspired/ or have a great fashion aesthetic.  CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg and W Magazine Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi will host the Pedro Almodovar 1988 movie Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. This classic hit will get the larger than life treatment as it will be shown on the Big Screen Plaza’s 30ft x 16ft LED screen directly across from the terrace at Bar Basque. The film is considered Almodovar’s breakthrough hit and stars Carmen Maura, Julieta Serrano and a very youthful Antonio Banderas. Bar Basque Chef de Cuisine Yuhi Fujinaga will create special tapas and menu choices inspired by the evening’s movie, and specialty cocktails will be whipped up by Bar Basque’s resident mixologists.
